Match report After experiencing a disappointing draw in the previous game the Sunday Friendly XI had some revenge to strike against the unassuming tourers from Hampshire.

A team full of youth with 7 players under the age of 18 stepping up against IBM who hit 190 against Rowant III the previous day. Another toss won and again batting first the two openers- Tugger and Dan- are making it a habit of wasting no time early on scoring 29-0 from the first 4. Unfortunately, a similar story for Dan after making a solid start to 16 before getting caught and bowled in a moment of lack of concentration. Same story with Sunday debutant James Basu going in at 3 who also made a solid start, but a peach of a delivery had him out for 17. But this did not ruffle the guys as the middle order batsmen did a wonderful job of keeping up the run rate to over 6 an over for the remainder of the innings. A few notable scores of 44 from Bloomers and another debutant Josh Stocker scoring 41 batting at 4 supported Tugger who achieved an unbeaten 103 from the 40 overs (after getting dropped on 0 for a dolly!) Bledlow boys managed a delightful 259 for 5 off 40 overs.

Going in to field we felt confident we could defend a good score despite having never seen this team before. Their openers were ready to hit us about a bit though before Kingy found number 2’s weakness as he hit it straight up in the air for Marcus to take. Two more successive wickets came a couple of overs later before we found ourselves stuck bowling against number 1 and number 5, both of them scoring 50s. However, after drinks wickets fell in successive overs courtesy of good bowling from Megs and Sam which set Oscar up to get 3 quick wickets. Sharp keeping from Tugger provided 2 stumpings, although one hit his pad and rolled onto the stumps!

The away team finished on 234 for 8 from their 40 overs meaning a 25 run win to Bledlow going into the first league game next week.
