Bledlow Village Cricket Club

Aylesbury Town CC v Bledlow Village Cricket Club Senior Midweek on Wed 04 May 2016 at 6.00pm
Bledlow Village Cricket Club Lost By 35 Runs

Match report Bledlow lost the toss and were forced to field on an outfield that wouldn't have looked out of place on a rugby pitch. The opening bowlers started well, with Kingy and Sam, despite a 12 ball over from the later, taking 4 early wickets between them. Tom kept the pressure on with his lesser seen seam bowling, also picking up a couple of wickets. However Aylesbury eventually found a partnership for their 7th wicket with their number 8 batsman scoring a rapid fire 50, regularly putting Marcus and James Basu to the boundary. Bizarrely the home team scorer lost count of the overs, leaving Aylesbury finishing their innings on a somewhat suspiciously high 148-8 from just 13 overs.
Bledlow's opening batsmen were confident of chasing down this score due to each of them coming off of the back of a large score at the weekend. However a combination of good bowling and wild, ineffective slogging (from Olly) saw Bledlow quickly fall behind the run rate. The top order was then dismantled in the space of a few minutes as first Marcus was bowled and then Harry, Ed and Tom were cleaned up in a hattrick that had umpire Kingy drooling in awe.
Olly and Bloomers were then both removed in quick succession as Bledlow looked like being rolled out for an embarrassing score. James Basu then dispatched their spinner into the tennis courts before being bowled next ball trying to repeat the shot. Dan and Sam then restored some respectability to the Bledlow innings with a very impressive partnership, despite Dan's leg injury, both making scores in the 30s. Dan and Kingy then both perished in a deperate attempt to get Bledlow up to the 100 required for a bonus point, a score they achieved as Mudie smashed the last ball for 4 following a scampered single from Megan to get him on strike.
Despite the loss, the skipper was impressed with the team's character and has high hopes for the rest of the T20 campaign.
