Bledlow Village Cricket Club Saturday 2nd v Cairns Fudge CC 1st XI on Sat 03 Jul 2021 at 12:30pm
Bledlow Village Cricket Club Won By 6 Wickets

Match report Another day at The Bledlow Oval for the 2nd XI.
Kingy able to pick a relatively strong side for todays fixture, including Ed Smart for his first proper league debut (after being involved in the Covid 2020 half season)
Another toss win of the season and Bledlow took the field with potential rain around and clouds overhead.
Ben Moore coming down the hill and Reckers up it started off the game for us, Ben removing the dangerous T.Small (who has hit 2 hundreds already this year) for only 2 was a great start for the team and a good catch by George stood up to Bens bowling.
Reckers was able to get the other opener chopped on making a late decision to leave the swinging ball. Ben kept up his good work for 13 overs staying tight and keeping the batsman honest. Mould came on up the hill and picked up two wickets, 1 a deadly leg stump yorker the batman couldn't get anything in the way of, the other using Georges sharp hands for his 2nd catch of the day (if that wasn't giving then he would of had himself a stumping anyway). Kingy, Jim and Ed all played key roles with the ball restricting the runs. Jim after a few loseners started to find his area and the wickets began to fall for him. The final wicket bringing a close to Cairns Fudge innings, Jims much talked about 1000th wicket for BVCC, with pace off (even more than normal) the set lefty on 75 came charging down the track, missed the ball and Georgey with his 3rd involvement of the game done the rest, bails off, innings over, milestone complete! Congrats Jim!!

Ankit and Streaky both return to open the batting this week looking solid at the top of the order for us,
Eventually after a several bowling changes Cairns Fudge top scorer Maclaren came on bowling right arm off spin around the wicket, picking up Streaky LBW on the sweep with one that was suspected of pitching outside leg but in his words "I should of hit it" Ankit was looking proactive and will feel he missed an opportunity for a good score after going up through the gears having got himself in.
Mouldy 3 and Jordan Price promoted to 4 were soon at the crease together and increased the run rate in case the threatening rain arrived. Mould took to the challange of CF gun bat T.Small coming on to bowl, hitting him for most of his 22 from 2 overs before he was removed from the attack. Jordan had a new partner in Bondy after Mould hit one firmly but straight back to the spinner for a C&B. Bond departed for 2 guiding one straight into the keepers gloves, the sort of thing you see the England coaches doing warming up the keeper and slips... batted Bondy. The partnership a brief one but laid the foundation for them to share a lovely evening together, watching England win and crashing at Jordans house instead of making the journey back to London.
Back to the cricket... Jordan was in no mood for crawling over the finish line, anything short went sailing into the field and he finished the game 44* with 3 x 6s. George came in at 6 to support Jordan wrapping up the victory.

Our 2nd win of the season sees us move to 4th from 8th, performances are starting to improve as we hope to put pressure on the top 3.
Well played lads.

Special mentions to Ed who fitted into the team well, and should of picked up the wicket of their set left hander (Sorry I dropped it)
Jim reaching his fantastic personal achievement.
George who i felt had a great game with the gloves on.
And finally Jordan who batted very well to see us home in quick time.
