Bledlow Village Cricket Club Won By 7 Wickets

Match report After the early morning rain had cleared, Tom won the toss and made visitors Tew bat first on what seemed a perfect afternoon for swing bowling.

Hawkesy and Pearcey were both troubling the opening batsmen and were unlucky not to make the breakthrough before Tew had 19 runs on the board, Pearcey trapping one of the openers plumb infront of the wickets. Pearcey and Hawkesy then picked up an LBW a piece before Tew could add another run to leave Tew reeling at 19-3. The bowlers continued to dominate, a further 5 wickets going down for 20 more runs. Both opening bowlers finishing with excellent figures, Hawkes 4-28 and Pearce 3-25, from their 10 overs. A combination of wides and some lower order resistance allowed Tew to get to 89 before they were bowled out, Was picking up the final two wickets.

From there the win was never in doubt, Bledlow reaching the target midway through their 14th over for the loss of 3 wickets. The only drama was Will failing to hit the six he needed to reach his 50 when there was just one run required to win, leaving him unbeaten on 46.

The win puts Bledlow back to the top of the table as the curse of the top spot continues. Next week Bledlow welcome Oxford when they will hope to become the first team in division 2 to win a 50 over game whilst being top of the table this season.
