Bledlow Village Cricket Club Won By 50 Runs

Match report A big game ahead v Horley 2s
Thankfully Ben Moore was finally back and ready to play also taking over captain duty!
With the forecast very dull and wet the chances of a full game were slim, but somehow with both teams and umpires happy to persist with the cricket through some rain we managed a result.

Ben lost the toss and was asked to bat first on his first game back and with a new look batting line up there was a few concerns. Streaks & Bloomo opening the batting both for the first time this year. Our captain taking 3 and Reckers 4. The opening stand wasn't a big one unfortunately with Streaks being beaten by the swinging delivery and Bledlow 6 for 1 off a couple of overs wasn't promising. To get it out the way... Bloomers somehow manages to play an outstanding knock using the majority of the 53 overs we had to get himself a 94! He deserved his ton if it wasn't for a rush of blood trying to get the milestone out the way. A top effort from the lad and a needed one given the lack of batting available.
A lot of useful scores from Reckers, Tombsy, Joe and Vineeth helped get a respectable 230 but importantly use all 53 overs!

Some how after tea and break in the rain the we took to the field and Lomo and Ben got the use of the new ball, although it wasn't long before it felt like bowling with a bar of soap.
The oppo had clearly decided to use there South African all rounder as an opener with the intent to score some quick runs. With Lomo getting there No.2 thanks to the first of 4 slip catches from the injured Joey Harman, Jim cleaned up their No.1 before he could do any more damage after scoring a quick 44. Everyone that was given the ball bowled tidy areas creating pressure backed up by solid fielding, Megan in particular stopped a handful of middled drives saving 4 each time! Joe setting the standard with catching! He took 4 superb slip catches including a diving one handed effort off Tombsys bowling! Rog probed away and got himself a couple of rewards with his height and the damp pitch and ball combination doing to much for the batsman he regularly beat the edge.
Jim was able to seal the win for the team getting the final two wickets needed, the last one coming an over before the game would of been called a draw.

A massive win for us and finally a complete performance of bat and ball and solid fielding!
Great to be part of and well done to everyone!
Especially Bloomers with the bat and Joes slip catching masterclass!
