Aston Rowant CC - 3rd XI v Bledlow Village Cricket Club Saturday 2nd on Sat 14 May 2016 at 1.00pm
Bledlow Village Cricket Club Lost By 130 Runs
Match report
2nd XI away to Aston Rowant 3rds
After an unfortunate accident putting last weeks Captain Marcus out of todays game, recently appointed Vice Captain Andy Reclik took the side for the day.
Losing his first toss he wasn't bothered due to his opposite number opting to bat and himself wanting to bowl.
The guys and Megan (as she tells me off for putting guys) took to the field with Lomo starting off the attack on the Rowants batsman from his choice of end. He eased straight into a good area causing problems and getting the left hander bowled, thanks to an inside edge. Reckers from the other end after his first ball just landing on the strip and bouncing 4 times before it reached Keeno with the gloves on (first time captain nerves) also started well. After a good partnership from these two with the ball Bledlow had Rowant 20 for 4 off 11 overs. Some smart cricket and rebuilding from No.5 & 6 frustrated the team and we had to wait until the 36 overs for the breakthrough, coming from Spooner caught at mid off by Lomo.
Whilst searching for the breakthrough Vineeth had a promising 5 over bust producing several jaffers but started to struggle keeping his line to another left hander and was changed after drinks. Toombsy struggling with various body parts bowled some good overs, the ball just doing a bit off the pitch and beating the edge of their number 6 plenty of times. After a few more wickets tumbled with Jim getting through the lower order with tight lines and Reckers and Lomo coming back at the end to claim the final wicket.
They were all out for 202 off 50.3 overs. A total I was happy to chase given we had 49 overs to get them after bowling them out.
Unfortunately, a repeat of last week where we only succeeded in one aspect of the game. Last week being with the bat, this week with the ball.
Keeno and Dan unable to get much of a platform for the team as was any batsman with only two making it into double figures. Alot of credit to their opening bowlers with some absolute peaches served up to us. A mixture of some poor batting and deliveries that had your name on made us all out for 72!
One of there openers finishing with a 7fer including a hat trick of No.5,9 & 10.
A lot of positives to take from bowling and fielding with the persistence and attitude that everyone showed especially when they put on a good partnership.
Hopefully a win is just around the corner when we can put performances with bat and ball together!
A quick thank you to our players today for helping me and offering advice in my first game as captain.
No MOM today with a loss of that size.
