Aston Clinton CC v Bledlow Village Cricket Club Senior Midweek on Tue 23 Jun 2015 at 6pm
Bledlow Village Cricket Club Won By 7 Wkts
Match report
Tuesday night @ Aston Clinton for a midweek 15 8 ball over game.
Marcus captaining the side today with Tom going on holiday, he won the toss and Bledlow went to field with Hawksey taking the first over. Hawksey bowled good areas straight away but went for a few runs in his first over with the Aylesbury & Aston Clinton opener Azra swinging the bat and slicing him through point and swinging hard down the ground.
Reckers given the 2nd over by Marcus despite giving away about 6 runs off the captains bowling through miss fields on Sunday's game. Reckers pushed Manan back to long on pitched it up and saw the opener hit straight down the ground as planned. Unfortunately after Manan made up ground he couldn't hold on to the catch. A ball later Ed was able to hold on to a chance at square leg with the No.1 bat trying to pull one away.
Hawkes had more luck in his 2nd over bowling full and straight bowling the No.3 and 4 finding himself on hat trick ball but searching for the yorker gave the batsman a full toss to block. Reckers 2nd over saw another wicket fall this time getting the No.2 he should of had in the first over with him slicing a short ball high for Manoj to claim at cover.
Hawkes bowling 3 good overs then saw Harry bond replacing Reckers at the other end bowling some good balls but unable to get any chances to fall to a fielder in his 3 over spell.
Sam Mudie on for Hawkes picked up a wicket in his first over with a full toss being hit to Reckers at deep mid on for a simple catch. Sam serving up a full and wide one was sliced to Manan in a short 3rd man/fly slip position for Sam to claim his 2nd wicket in his only over. In an action packed over Hawksey produced a run out with a controlled throw to Sams end to let him whip the bails of after one batsman fancied a run and the other not interested.
Marcus bringing on Sam Alexander for Mudie saw Sam bowl his best 8 deliveries in an over I've seen him produce with one picking up the wicket of the No.9. As the batsman tried glancing it of his pads the ball trapped between his legs and as he moved the ball dropped and rolled onto his stumps. This allowing Sam a 1 in the wicket column as a bowled and giving the team a laugh in the process but was great to see Sam who puts 100% into everything get a reward!
Manan bowled a good over picking up a wicket in a similar fashion to Sam Mudie with the batsman slicing it to short 3rd man where Mudie took the catch. Ed given an over as he played another game out from behind the stumps with the young Harry Tanner doing a good job in that department today. Ed feeling like Murli with his quicker ball, slower ball doosra and other tricks wasn't able to pick up a wicket but did beat the bat a few times. Manan finished off their innings picking up the last wicket with Sam Alexander hanging onto a sharp catch at point.
Bledlow had a target of 80runs Aston Clinton managed to score in 12 overs before they were all out.
Olly opening up with the captain for the day decided to sweep the first ball not getting any off it their umpire accepting the appeal saw Olly walking back without too many complaints. Marcus looked good from the start with Ed joining him at 3. The guys took there time playing nice shots until Ed sliced one up in the air of the spinner giving the keeper a simple catch. Marcus kept going getting more aggressive as the overs went by. Managing 3 sixes 2 of them seeing the fielder take a catch but back-pedalling over the line to give Marcus a six on both occasions. This happening in the same over left the bowler having a rant at his fielders feeling hard done by. His other 6 an effortless shot down to long off. Manan was unable to hang around to long picking up just 3 and Harry Tanner in at 5 contributed a run.
Overall Marcus dominated with the bat finishing on 64 not out and Bledlow knocked the runs off in 10.5 overs.
With the fun over the guys got their gear and headed back to Bledlow to enjoy Marcus's jug of fosters!
Cheers!
