Bledlow Village Cricket Club Saturday 2nd v Challow & Childrey CC 2nd XI on Sat 11 Jul 2015 at 1.00pm
Bledlow Village Cricket Club Lost By 3 wickets

Match report A sunny Saturday at the Oval saw the 2nd team take on Challow in there second meeting of the season. The opposition captain calling incorrectly and Olly chose to bat first.

With the team selection causing Olly and other club members to grow a few grey hairs this week with unavailability high the team had 10 and luckily with George Harman stopping in at the club gave us a valuable 11th man with a bat.

Olly and George opening with all George's equipment being pinched from his team mates bags as all he had only come down with his baby and dog. The guys started well which hasn't been the teams issue this season but how long a good start lasts has been. Olly getting out early connecting early on a drive getting caught at mid off. Not able to replicate his fine innings he produced at Challows ground first game of the season and his frustration with himself was clear as he got back to the pavilion. Andy Peacock turning out for the club today batting at 3 wasn't able to keep out one that kept low and left the bowler on hattrick ball after getting Olly in the last ball of his previous over. Reckers finding his batting position change not in a way he was used to coming in at 4 today was able to keep out the hattrick ball in the 4th over. George and Andy kept ticking over with George having most the strike and putting away both openers well despite the opposition thinking he could only play off the back foot so George accepted the opportunity to wack the opener back over his head for 6 off the front foot.
A good 141 partnership came to an end when Reckers slog sweep found a man at cow and left him walking back to the pavilion on 38 and George a few shy of his 100 the other end. A good and needed partnership though and allowed the new promising Josh Franklin to come in at 5 with roughly 25 overs gone. George was able to complete his hard work getting his 100 but only managing another 6 before getting bowled. (Massive credit to George for helping the guys out when he could of sat and watched the guys struggle).
Folley another name making an appearance for the Bledlow again couldn't be as destructive to the opposition bowling as some have seen before with him getting 4 and run out with some miss communication between him and the young lad the other end. Sam, Willo, Harry and Jim batting11 were only able to add 10 between them. Rog at 10 had a do or die attitude and scored a quick 16 and killed off a few more over for the team but unfortunately in the process he was denied a few runs. Jim at the other end having his reoccurring hamstring injury cause issues later meaning Jim didn't take to the field and Andy Harman stepped in to help out. The guys finished on 232 all out off 44.1 overs. A key innings from George and help from Reckers, Josh and Rog gave the team a respectable total.

After tea Olly opted to give Rog the new ball down the hill and Folley up the hill with Jim off injured. They both started well putting pressure on the opposition. Challow tried to be positive giving Bledlow chances in the field for catches and run out. Folley claiming 2 caught and bowled wickets managing 3 in total in his 3 spells. Olly had no option but to try and rotate bowlers and force errors from Challow. Rog once again bowling some top overs and picking up a couple of wickets, one an absolute jaffer cutting in to bowl a dangerous batsman hitting off stump. Reckers, Olly, Josh and Willo had unsuccessful spells with the ball but Josh held a high catch at long off and Reckers was able to contribute with a direct hit run out from cover and a throw from long on giving him another run out with Folley taking the bails off. Andy Peacock with the gloves on today had a hard task on a pitch with varying bounce but did manage a good catch behind standing up to Rogers bowling.
The guys dropped some catches in the field and it happens but the little things that need to improve if we are to start winning.
Everyone was a credit to Bledlow turning out to try and get some points on the board and were rewarded with 12points for a 3 wicket loss.
The guys will keep trying and it will click before the season ends!
Once again a massive thanks to George and Andy Harman for helping their club out when it needed them!
