Challow & Childrey CC 2nd XI v Bledlow Village Cricket Club Saturday 2nd on Sat 09 May 2015 at 1.00pm
Match was Drawn Challow 5 points Bledlow 20 points

Match report Olly captaining the 2nd team in the first league game of the season.
After he made his trip up to Challow from Southampton Uni he got the guys ready with a fielding drill before the game then went and lost the toss allowing them to make us bat first (which i'm sure he later regretted)
Olly and Keeno taking the 1 and 2 spots in the batting line up got off to a good start with Olly having the majority of the strike and putting most of the bad balls away to the fence quickly got to his 50 in 40 balls.
As the partnership continued to build Keeno start picking up the pace him self leaving the opposition frustrated having to wait until the 27th over to get the breakthrough. By this point the guys had put 167 on the board and Olly getting himself out just before drinks trying to get his 100 out the way fell to the mid on fielder on 96.
Ed not having touched a bat or ball since last season came in stood about while drinks took place, took his guard and walked back to the pavilion having missed the straight one.
It was only a few overs later before Keeno(68) was out and although there was 32 overs gone and 180 on the board already there was concern of a slight collapse with a lot of the team lacking in pre season practise. Marcus and Dan looked good in the middle continuing to add runs to the board, Marcus eventually going for 27 meant Reckers came in at 6 with the only aim to add more runs with Dan to allow Olly to make his first big decision as Captain deciding to declare after Reckers got bowled trying to guide a straight one to 3rd man. That left Dan not out on 39 after a good knock from the young lad who probably enjoyed his break from GCSE revision.
272 on the board with the declaration giving the bowlers 50 overs to get the wickets they needed to get a win.
With a good tea out the way (allways key to a good performance) the team took the field with Olly giving J.Spooner the 1st over and J.Harman the 2nd. Challows openers looked good putting away any bad balls making the most of a quick outfield. Harman managed to get the breakthrough with their batsman nicking off allowing Ed a routine catch behind the stumps. He went on to get their number 2 and 3 as well with Sam taking a good catch at backward point while Jim kept it tight at the other end.
Spooner finally got in on the action with his usual allowing them to hit down the ground but both there 4 and 5 finding Reckers at mid on to be caught in identical dismissals. After the openers both bowled 16 over spells with Olly having no reason to change an attack that was on top he bought on Reckers for Jim and Rog(The Chairman)Downes for Joe. Reckers struggled finding his line to the left handed bat going for 14 off his first over but Rog the end was on the money straight away not giving many freebies to put away. After Rog managed a good C+B to get rid of the usefull left hander that had got to his 50 he then went on to bowl the number 7 with a jaffer and picked up the number 8 and Ed claiming another catch behind in the process. Reckers made way for Olly with the team chasing wickets for the win and there was success in the first over, The batsman had no idea what to do when the ball came down with snow on it and got out caught behind having thought about playing 6 different shots to the ball before it arrived ended up not playing any properly giving Ed his 3rd catch of the game. Sam was a useful asset in the field taking a catch and chasing plenty of balls down to stop a 4 and Tom fielding at mid-off all game stopping plenty of straight drives to keep the bowlers happy and the pressure on the batsmen!
In the end we couldn't get all 10 to seal a win but 20 points for the first game of the new season under a new captain was a good result.
All the guys contributed with bat ball or solid fielding Bledlow were always on top but could only manage the 9 wickets and a draw despite scoring 272 and Challow 162. Thats the Cherwell League for you!
MOM would be Olly for me with his 96 off 85 balls he led from the front and picked up a wicket late on, A good start to life in the 2s under his captaincy.
