Bledlow Village Cricket Club News story

BVCC Chairman's Statement No.5

31 Jul 2020

Dear ##firstname##

This is now the fifth monthly update and we trust that you continue to remain in good health.  Whilst these times are still challenging there is, at last, some easing of the restrictive measures bringing us back to cricket and a return to something almost resembling normality.

An unexpected ECB announcement 3 weeks ago allowed the resumption of grass roots or recreational cricket and after one Club warm up weekend we returned to league cricket, in an amended form, for the remainder of the season and have also entered the Village Knockout Cup which continues this the Sunday.  Junior training sessions continue on a Friday evening and Sunday morning and we are now set to continue AllStars for the younger members.  We must, of course, continue to observe the restrictions around social distancing, sanitization and hand washing,

We are pleased with the success of the reopening of the Club bar during July, allowing members to purchase alcohol, which can be consumed outside, whilst observing the regulations relating to social distancing.  We would like to thank everyone for their patience with the new bar procedures and for signing in, to provide track and trace information, should it be needed.  We will continue to open the bar, albeit on a limited schedule at present, as long as all members continue to observe the restrictions.  Please see the website for any changes to the opening times.

Unfortunately, the recent Government announcements regarding renewed restriction to group events means that, with regret, we must now finally consider Bledfest cancelled for this year. Whether we are in a position to be able to stage any form of ‘party event’ towards the end of the year must also be extremely doubtful now.

We look forward to seeing you in the coming weekends of cricket and appreciate your continued support.
