Leighton Buzzard Town CC 2nd XI v Bledlow Village Cricket Club Saturday 2nd on Sat 10 Jul 2021 at 12:30
Match was Drawn Winning Draw

Match report This Saturday we travelled to Leighton Buzzard, looking to build on last weeks good win against Cairns Fudge.
5 changes were made to last weeks team with Bacon, Bond, Price, Reclik & Smart out, and replaced by Jabber, Shane, Fred and 1st appearances of the season for Bloomfield and Janes.

For what feels like forever, skipper King finally lost a toss and Buzzard elected to Field. We made a fantastic start with Bloomfield and Ankit putting on 76 for the first wicket. This was backed up the whole innings with constant partnerships throughout.
Regular boundaries kept the scoreboard ticking over quickly with a total off 31x Fours and 5x Sixes. Biggest 6 award this week, goes to Benny Moore with a fine straight hit into the car park.
5x Players reaching 30+ Runs in Bloomfield, Singh, Mould ( 50 ), Harman & Moore.

Shot of the day played by Shane Shirley who was so close to getting us to the last bonus batting point (250), with a sublime Cut shot which rocketed to the boundary. Getting a standing ovation from the Bledlow players on the side-lines. Unfortunately the celebrations were short lived with Shane going back to his trademark slog across the line and being cleaned bowled to end the innings at 248/10.

Buzzard started their innings quickly, with Raine playing some aggressive / agricultural ( Very Effective ) shots to reach the boundary. A couple early wickets at the other end from Mould and Moore kept Buzzard in check, but the $rd Wicket partnership between Raine/Burfoot was starting to tick along nicely.
With the game in the balance, King and Spooner slowed the run rate with steady bowling which forced a few errors from the buzzard line up. Bledlow had a flurry of wickets to get Buzzard 7 down with 14 overs still remaining, but on a good track Jones and Gurney decided enough was enough and looked solid blocking out for the draw.

Another good performance from Bledlow who picked up 17 points for there efforts and remain in 4th in the league.

Next Saturday we are back at the oval to play Chearsley. An intriguing battle with a couple of former players returning and with Bledlow in 4th and Chearsley 2nd a good chance for us to close the gap at the top with a win.

Also congratulations to Andy Reclik & James Bacon who completed the London - Brighton Bike ride for the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust. We are looking forward to having you both back on the field this Saturday.
