Match report The first match of 2016!
A nice away trip to the beautiful Hurley.
With the weather just about allowing us to play we made the journey over on a cold and grey day.
Tom Moore captaining today won the toss and let our batsman have a go first. Olly and Dan taking up 1 & 2 and wasted little time scoring 12 off the first over. No need to get their eye in it seemed. They both took advantage of poor fielding with Dan being dropped guiding one straight to slip but only hitting there fielder in the chest and the shot notched him up another run.
It was a damp outfield and 4s were hard to come by so plenty of running was done instead not suiting Ollys style!
Dan after playing some nice shots for 11 miss timed a drive and was caught easily in the covers. Toms innings was a similar story playing some sweetly timed shots and should of had more value for them on a dry outfield only managed 13 before also being caught behind flicking of his legs.
The destructive Will Woodward in next didnt disappoint scoring an impressive 85 of 41 clearing the ropes plenty of times but his best shot a lovely reverse sweep that only got him a couple due to conditions. Tugger at 5, Bloomers at 6 and Mudie at 7 all played similar games with good strike rates and plenty more big hitting as keeping it on the floor wasnt getting it done quick enough for these guys. Reckers and Kingy only had to dust of the pads for a short period until Tom called them in with 267 on the board in 36 overs!

A good tea and back out into the cold the team went :(
Kingy and Megan getting the use of the new ball started tightly once Megan had her 4 looseners. Megan did claim one of the openers pitching it up and the batsman edging to Tom in slip.
all the guys were given a chance with the ball as Dan and Marcus swapped the gloves over and everyone bowled good areas. 6 of the bowlers shared the wickets with Bloomers the suprise package bowling the batter who i think was trying to figure out what was going on with his run up!
The game was an anti climax with the rain making it a bit of a chore and the opposistion happy to use up the overs for a draw.
Everyone played well and contributed in one way or another and it was a good start to cricket season!
