Match report Aylesbury and District Midweek fixture V Westcott CC (15 8 ball overs)
Tom losing the toss meant we got the fielding out the way early on a chilly evening.
It was a lovely little ground and a good pitch which Reckers and Ben got to test out first with the ball.
Reckers made them one down in the first over with the batsman looking to go big skying one allowing Reckers a C+B. Ben bowling good areas the other end as the batsman kept swinging the bat but rarely connecting with the ball meant Ben only conceded 8 runs of his 16 balls (2 overs). One 4 coming from Sam Mudie getting out the way of the ball and a half chance Tom couldn't take left him without a wicket.
The new face (Mark Evans) came on to replace Ben stepping in to help with the numbers bowling left arm over with his shades on looked useful and would of finished with more respectable figures had Tom not dived over the ball twice in cover. He did manage a wicket with the batsman miss timing a flick to leg giving Reckers his 2nd catch running round to mid-on to take it.
Tom gave the young lads a chance with the ball and they done well without picking up a wicket but Dan, Tom and Marcus managed direct hits to dismiss batsman and Sam.A managed a run out off his own bowling. (i dont blame the batsman for trying to get off strike, Beamer/DOUBLEBouncer/Yorker)
Westcott finishing on 104 for 6 of their 15 overs pleasing Mould as fielding has never been his biggest interest.
Olly and Marcus opened up with Marcus dealing in boundarys early on. Olly looked good making 15 until he was stumped and i think Bledlow would of lost a review had that been an option with Olly not convinced he is ever out!
Marcus pressed on with the motto of STC working well for him! Ed came out at 3 to support Marcus and let him get on with it chasing the 104 total down in 7.5 overs.
Marcus finishing on 75 of 35 balls and done the right thing and got a jug in when we got back to the club.
Nice to pick up the first midweek league win with a good performance from the guys and a good laugh as well!
