Bledlow Village Cricket Club Won By 7 Runs

Match report A tough 2nd Round game for Bledlow against familiar opposition in Westbury.

A must win toss which the skipper succeeded in and easily opted to bat first.

A tough game for the batsman, not many were able to get going with free flowing strokes, our openers done their best at using time and not taking unnecessary risks while the extras were flooding in from down the hill.
Mould undone by sharp work down the legside from their keeper, as he overbalanced the keeper collected the ball and whipping the bails off in a flash.
Wickets fell regularly until Dan and Marcus were able to bat some time in the middle overs, fighting off an accurate Westbury spin duo. Pressure paid and Dan was trapped LBW for 20, but a crucial 47 run partnership with Marcus had been much needed.
Marcus failing just short of his 50 as he tried to hit the accelerator in the last couple of overs, but an important inning from him regardless.
Matt P at 10 landed one big blow over midwicket (or cow) a crucial 6 to help Bledlows cause.
A final total of 170 kept us in the game, largely thanks to the extras column.

Bowling plans set and the reliable M.Pearce and J.Harman opened up for Bledlow. Hitting areas early and beating the outside edge a few times it was a positive start.
Matt struck in his first over finding an edge from the dangerous Tice that carried low to Mouldy at 1st slip.

The bowling continued to be tight even with the no.3 nailing several drives for 4.
After Joe got the remaining opener with an LBW shout Bledlow continued to pile on the pressure with Joes 8 overs upfront going for 21.
It gave Will the good start he wanted and allowed pressure to continue to be built up in the middle overs through his own bowling and backed up by Reckers and Marcus.
Will picked up the big wicket of no.3, going back and missing it leaving the Westbury umpire no choice but to raise his finger!
After he had gone, dismissals kept occurring and Bledlow were able to take control of the game.
Reckers had the opportunity at a hattrick in his last over, getting no.8 stumped followed up by bowling no.10 but failing to get the wicket of the incoming no.11
Marcus left 16 to defend in the last over...
The final wicket falling with a run out as Westbury required 9 to win from 2 balls they looked to scamper back for a 2nd with it never on. Will with a composed throw to Rossy and he done the rest.
Game over!
A great performance by everyone in the field and the bowlers stuck to their tasks well.

Regional Final up next Stoke Green visit BVCC on the 9th of Aug.
