Bledlow Village Cricket Club Saturday 1st v Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts CC 1st XI on Sat 27 May 2017 at 13.00
Bledlow Village Cricket Club Won By 6 Wickets

Match report Bledlow welcomed Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondies to the Oval for their second home game of the season, looking to extend their unbeaten start to the league campaign. Tom lost the toss yet again but was happy to see the opposition skipper elect to bat first.
The opening bowling combination of Matt Pearce and Matt Bolton kept things extremely tight at the beginning of the innings but it wasn't until a superb bit of fielding from Bolts, a direct hit run out, that the first breakthrough came. From then on the batsmen never looked like causing Bledlow any problems as wickets fell at regular intervals. Firstly Was removed batsmen numbers 1 and 4 in quick succession, before captain Tom brought himself on to devastating effect. Tom's 'quick spin' was too much for the batsmen to handle as they folded like a deck of cards to give Tom his first ever Cherwell League five wicket haul. He eventually finished with excellent figures of 6-17, narrowly missing out on the 7 wickets required to get his name up on the board thanks to Will picking up a wicket at the other end. Nondies were bowled out for 95 and Bledlow went to tea certain that they would chase down such a modest total.

Olly and Harry got the innings off to a good start, reaching 37 before Olly was caught behind for 20. Adam and then Harry quickly followed Olly back to the dressing room as Bledlow slumped to 40-3. Things could have been a whole lot worse had the wicket keeper been able to hold on after Bolts had edged one through to him with the score still on 40, but luckily he was reprieved and managed to put on 35 runs with Will before being bowled for 10. Tom and Will polished off the remaining runs required with ease, with the man of the match Tom hitting the winning runs to cap an excellent day for the skipper.

Other results meant that Bledlow finished the day 2nd in the table, just 2 points off top. They travel to Sandford next Saturday hoping to return home with another 25 points which could take them to the top of the league for the first time in the season.
