Great & Little Tew CC - 3rd XI v Bledlow Village Cricket Club Saturday 2nd on Sat 02 Jul 2016 at 1.00pm
Bledlow Village Cricket Club Won By 4 Wickets
Match report
A trip to Great & Little Tew.
The morning started badly needing to find a no.11 after a withdrawal from a first team player meant the 2s were down to 10.
Luckily a phone call from Keeno to Bob Floyd found our man! Turning up just after the start of play as to be expected.
After Keeno lost the toss due to late arrival of captain on the day Reclik and several others( error in stopping for food) the lads were made to take the field and bowl.
Lomo choosing his end opened with Reckers, and a string left handers made it hard work for Lomo to find a consistent line.
The first breakthrough coming in the 6th over, a poor pull shot finding a diving one handed Vinneth that managed to cling on!
Picking up wickets fairly regularly and restricting scoring with good fielding and tight bowling on a hard to judge pitch, Bleldow were slowly taking control. Mudie managed to get himself two identical run outs in the cover with poor running costing their batsman with simple pick ups and throws to Keenos gloves sending their 2 & 3 back to the shed in the 14th and 23rd over.
With Jim into the attack boring the batsman to sleep and Vineeth at the other end previously replacing Lomo the wickets continued to fall. Vinneth with several jaffers in his locker picked up 3 good wickets for us and Jims bowling the other end forced some batsman to take him on due to the lack of scoring, this leading to their demise. Tombs on to pick up the final wicket done the young batsman with a freebie for him to pick up 2 then a low full toss which the batsman kindly middled to Basu at square leg.
After reduicing Tew to 127 off 38.2 overs, Bledlow had 56 overs to hit their target (rain affected overs)
After an average tea, Keeno as usual and Dan accompanying him opened the batting for Bleldow. Tew got their first wicket in the 8th after a lovely shot down the ground from Dan for two couldn't be followed up as he failed to keep out a yorker and had to walk back. A young 2, 3 & 4 weren't able to support Keeno for long with Mudie making a agricultural 17 and Basu looking good for 8 before being triggered. As Bledlow kept Tew interested giving up wickets we finally crossed the line after 47.2 overs for the loss of 6.
Keeno a splendid 55, read conditions perfectly waiting for any width and cut and swept with precision. Extras and a few small contributions were enough to see us take 25 points. A big thanks to Floydy for dragging over to Tew to help the club!
A massive well done to the lads that managed to get the job done.
Keeno picks up his 2nd MoM of the season after more valuable runs!
On to next week taking on top of the table Cropredy that have one over on us this season.
Time to even it up!
