Bledlow Village Cricket Club Won By 8 Wickets

Match report Skipper Tom lost the toss on his return to the side and opponents Oxford Downs elected to bat first on a sunny day at the Bledlow Oval.
The Bledlow bowlers continued their strong form and quickly had the visitors in trouble as Matt Bolton (1) and Dave Pearce (3) picked up early wickets to restrict the batsmen to 56-4. Despite a solid innings from Oxford Downs' number 3 they were never really able to recover as Rog tore through the lower middle order with outstanding figures of 3-5. Further wickets for Bolts, Hawkesy and and Matt Pearce meant that Bledlow would need 152 to win having bowled out the away team for 151 in 44.3 overs.

Opening batsmen Olly and Tom didn't mess about in their pursuit of the small total, reaching 22 from just 3 overs before Olly chopped a wide ball onto his stumps for 12. Tom and Matt Bolton moved the score on serenely, despite occasional rain disruptions, and their partnership fell 1 short of 100 when Tom fell in the 30s for the fourth time this season. The game was over soon after as Charlie and Bolts wasted little time in getting the 31 remaining runs, with man of the match Matt ending up on an excellent 70 not out and Charlie 8 not out.

Another clinical all round performance from Bledlow sees them remain at the top of the table at the half way mark of the season.

Next week sees bottom side Tiddington welcomed to the Oval, with Bledlow hoping to complete a double over them after the exciting win on the opening day of the season.
