Bledlow Village Cricket Club Saturday 1st v Banbury CC - 3rd XI on Sat 14 May 2016 at 1.00pm
Bledlow Village Cricket Club Won By 9 Wickets

Match report On a somewhat surprisingly sunny Saturday morning the Bledlow boys met up earlier than usual for their clash with Banbury. This was due to newly appointed Club Chef Matt Bolton cooking up some sublime 'breakfast burritos' for all of the team, hopefully this becomes a regular Saturday feature. With a full stomach Tom Moore won the toss for the second consecutive week, this time electing to field after much deliberation.

Once again it was the combination of the Pearce brothers to open the bowling. Both managed to find their line and length almost immediately, restricting the Banbury top order to a meagre 16-3 from the first 15 overs. It didn't get much easier for the batsmen as the Pearces continued to pick up wickets and restrict the scoring. After drinks however, Banbury decided a different tactic was in order, with Dave going for 3 fours in the first over back. He quickly made amends though, removing the same batsman with the final ball of that over, and his spell, to end with excellent figures of 3-33. This bought Banbury's number 7 to the crease, and he was certainly not hanging about. He managed to hit three huge sixes in a quickfire 6th wicket partnership before Matt Pearce and Matt Bolton picked up wickets in successive balls to end Banbury's hopes of posting a competitive score. Kingy and Matt Bolton then proceeded to mop up the Banbury tail to leave Bledlow needing 134 to win from 56 overs. It was another very accomplished bowling and fielding performance from Bledlow, with the only blemish an uncharacteristic bye given away by Harry Bartlett, resulting in him doing the four halves.

Openers Tom Moore and Olly Woodward didn't hang about in chasing down the score after the restart, with Tom hitting 3 fours from the first over. Some more buffet bowling meant that Olly didn't take long catching up to and overtaking Tom, chalking up a 50 in the process. Tom and Olly reached their 100 partnership in good time and with little trouble, although Olly was dropped twice in the process. Olly couldn't complete the job though as he chipped a simple catch back to the bowler for 64. This bought Matt Bolton to the crease and he wasted little time in knocking off the required runs to take Bledlow to a comfortable victory inside 27 overs. Matt finished on 6 not out with Tom on an unbeaten 46.

Matt and Dave Pearce were voted joint men of the match for their superb bowling performances. Bledlow remain top of the table but face a potentially tricky trip to Horley next week, where they will hope to keep their 100% record this season in tact.
