Bledlow Village Cricket Club Senior Midweek v Aylesbury CC on Thu 18 Jun 2015 at 6pm
Bledlow Village Cricket Club Won By 3 wickets
Match report
A pleasant evening for a midweek 15 8 ball over game @ The Bledlow Oval against a good Aylesbury side.
Tom lost the toss and the team was sent out to field first.
Reckers opening down the hill and Hawksey getting the short straw bowling up the hill with the short leg side boundary on pitch 1.
Reckers first over saw some runs scored and a chance for the fielders but it landed safe between Dan and Sam not making up enough ground to take a catch(they both left it to each other, Reckers wasn't happy)
Hawksey bowling the 2nd over started with good pace, producing 2 cracking deliveries to bowl there No.1 and also a Dinton 1st teamer batting at 3 and a full and wide one in his 3rd over picking up their No.4 creaming it to Tom Moore in the covers for the catch.
Reckers going for a few too many runs in his 2nd was replaced by the skipper who bowled extremely tightly varying pace and flight meaning they struggled to rotate the strike and score off him. Hawksey bowling a top 3 overs spell and being saved for the end.
Tom picking up the wickets of the No. 2 with Reckers running in from long on to take a good catch later trapping No.5 plum infront and Ed claiming a stumping to dismiss No.7 with the batsman trying to hit some much needed runs of Toms bowling. The captain crucially stopped partnerships developing and kept them under pressure claiming wickets at key times.
Marcus coming on up the hill for Hawks should of had a wicket in his first few balls with Tom and Hawksey nearly colliding meant what should of been a simple catch was put down with Hawkseys one handed effort in the process of dodging Tom not sticking.
Tom mixed up the bowling late on swapping bowlers ends with Marcus having success bowling down the hill getting his wicket with another batsman going aerial down the ground but landing in Reckers hands 5 yards in from the boundary at long on. Reckers was able to get in on the wickets taking the No.8 bowling up the hill with Olly running round to claim the catch and bowled the number 9 and 10 coming back down the hill in the last over leaving Aylesbury with 114 all out off 14.6 overs.
Olly and Marcus got padded and got off to a great start pushing singles at every opportunity and finding the odd boundary to help the runs pile up.
Marcus beaten by a good yorker as was Ed not many balls later. Olly and Tom put on a good stand with Tom punching the ball around the ground and Olly taking the aerial option a few times clearing the fence. With Olly finally going for a good 31 Manan came in but was beaten for pace and bowled giving the other youngster Dan a chance for some runs to see Bledlow home. He could only manage 5 before being caught but luckily with Hawksey coming in at 7 and sticking around with Tom the runs kept coming and the win got nearer.
Tom fell for 29 getting bowled leaving 3 to win off 9 balls with Reckers in at 8 going against captains orders of singles, took his guard lined it up and sliced it up in the air to cover crossing with Hawksey. Leaving the new batsman Simon on strike in the new over and Hawksey stranded at the other end. Luckily Simon looked good and managed a single giving Hawks the strike and wacking a 4 through cover to win the game and redeem Reckers act of stupidity.
All the lads were solid in the field and gave ourself a chance to win with great effort and performances from the team.
A great win to be part of with it played in the right way and credit to Aylesbury for their part in the contest.
